Accumulator and Fittings
Description: One of the reasons that hydraulic equipped vehicles ride stiff is that once the car is raised the fluid in the cylinder is held tight by the check valves until it is released by the dump. Accumulators allow the cylinder to move in and out like a shock absorber. How it works: Inside the accumulator there is a rubber bladder that is filled with Nitrogen (350psi). By placing a tee on your hydraulic line running to the accumulator, you allow the fluid in the hose and cylinder to flow into the accumulator. When you hit a bump, the cylinder will move in and out very smoothly due to the fluid pushing against the rubber bladder. These are most commonly used on FWD strut vehicles but can be used on any hydraulic set-up.
